We build our applications with OpenACS (Open Architecture Community System) an open-source toolkit for building scalable, community-oriented web applications. OpenACS is written in the secure scripting language TCL and runs on NaviServer, a highly-scalable multithreaded web application server, Oracle, the industry standard relational database, or PostgreSQL, a true ACID-compliant RDBMS. OpenACS, NaviServer, and PostgreSQL are all available under open-source licenses.
Advantages of our research solutions:
- A secure, low-cost, open-source web application framework (OpenACS running on NaviServer)
- Relational Database Management Systems (Oracle/PostgreSQL)
- Hosted directly on UCLA's high-speed 10-Gigabit backbone network
- Expertise in handling PHI/PII and minimizing the associated risks
